Biography

CBLPath, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is pleased to include Magalis A. Vuolo, M.D., F.C.A.P, as part of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Vuolo is an expert in breast pathology and brings a wealth of professional experience to the pathology team. She is a double board-certified pathologist who has been trained by the United States’ preeminent cytopathology and breast pathology experts. 

Dr. Vuolo graduated with her medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York, where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. After medical school, she completed a residency in anatomic pathology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Montefiore Medical Center, where she was chief resident and the recipient of the Irving Ratner Award for excellence in pathology. Following her residency, she completed a fellowship in breast pathology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, where she studied under world-renowned breast pathologist, Dr. Paul Peter Rosen. She then was awarded and completed a second fellowship, administered by the American Cancer Society, in cytopathology with an emphasis in fine-needle aspiration. During her second fellowship, she studied under the foremost cytopathologists in their field, Dr. Leopold G. Koss and Dr. Mark Suhrland. 

Before joining CBLPath, Dr. Vuolo held a teaching appointment as assistant professor of pathology, and was an attending pathologist, at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center. While there, she was codirector of the reproductive systems and human sexuality course and very active in the pathology residency and cytopathology fellowship training programs and staff conferences. She joined CBLPath as a specialist in breast pathology. 

Dr. Vuolo is active in research. She has given numerous presentations on breast disease and has published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals such as The American Journal of Pathology, Acta Cytologica, and Modern Pathology, among others. 

Dr. Vuolo is a member of a number of professional pathology organizations. These include the College of American Pathologists, American Society of Cytopathology, and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. 

Dr. Vuolo has full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic pathology and cytopathology by the American Board of Pathology.
