Biography

CBLPath, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is privileged to include Christina E. Day, M.D., as a part of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Day is an award-winning, double board-certified pathologist who brings professional medical and teaching experience to her position. 

Dr. Day graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biopsychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She earned her medical degree at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland. Following her degrees, she completed an internship in family medicine at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York. She served her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology, also at Montefiore Medical Center, where she served as chief resident. She completed two fellowships. The first was a cytopathology fellowship and the second was in surgical pathology, both at the University of California, Los Angeles. 

Dr. Day has extensive experience, including academic and leadership positions. Dr. Day was an instructor in the College of Applied Anatomy at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine in Los Angeles, CA. She then was a staff pathologist at West Los Angeles Veterans Healthcare Administration. While there, she sat on the monthly endocrinology and interdisciplinary tumor boards and taught pathology residents during the cytopathology conferences. She was also named the University of Southern California pathology residency site coordinator and director of cytopathology while at West Los Angeles Veterans Healthcare Administration. Following these positions, she was appointed to the position of clinical assistant professor at USC Keck School of Medicine in Los Angeles. Prior to joining CBLPath, she was an associate pathologist at White Plains Hospital in White Plains, NY. 

Dr. Day has multiple peer-reviewed publications in prestigious medical journals such as Diagnostic Cytopathology and the British Journal of Radiology. She was the editor of Histopathology: Methods and Protocols, which is part of the Methods in Molecular Biology book series. She also coauthored two book chapters in Methods in Molecular Biology, one on prostate diagnostics and the other on fixatives. She has published abstracts for the American Society of Cytopathology annual meetings and for the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. In 2008, she won a Breast Journal award from Wiley-Blackwell and an outstanding poster award from the American Society of Breast Disease. 

Dr. Day is a member of the College of American Pathologists, American Society of Cytopathology, and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. 

Dr. Day holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and cytology by the American Board of Pathology.
