Dongsheng Xu, M.D., Ph.D.

Director of Hematopathology
Dr. Dongsheng Xu is board certified in anatomic pathology and clinical pathology as well as hematology by the American Board of Pathology. He received his M.D. degree from the First Military Medical University in Guangzhou, China. Subsequently, he completed his medical residency and a fellowship in hematology at the Third Military Medical University in Chongquing, China. Dr. Xu received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska where he also completed a research fellowship in gastroenterology and hematology. He completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Jackson Memorial Medical Center – University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. Dr. Xu then completed a residency in clinical pathology and a fellowship in hematopathology at Montefiore Medical Center – Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York. Prior to his arrival at CBLPath, Dr. Xu was the Medical Director, Hematology and Flow Cytometry Laboratory, and Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Boston University Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. He is well published with more than 50 articles and 1 book chapter in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Xu is the recipient of numerous awards and is a sought-after lecturer in the area of hematopathology, having presented at several national and international conferences. He is a fellow of the College of American Pathologists and a member of the American Society of Hematology, the International Society for Laboratory Hematology and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology.
