Under the leadership of Director Lidiya Lund, M.D., Ph.D., CBLPath's Department of Breast Pathology is staffed by nine board certified pathologists and cytopathologists specializing in breast pathology with the training, expertise and experience to ensure the most accurate diagnoses. Our pathologists are not only today's leaders but also tomorrow's pioneers. We have worked hard to take the industry lead. We will work even harder to maintain it.

Carlos D. Urmacher, M.D., FCAP, FASCP

Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Carlos Urmacher is board certified in anatomic pathology by the American Board of Pathology. After earning his M.D. degree from the University of Venezuela, Dr. Urmacher completed his pathology residency at Mount Sinai Hospital where he was Chief Resident. Subsequently, he completed his fellowship in surgical pathology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where he was Chief Fellow. Dr. Urmacher specialized in oncologic and breast pathology as a member of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center attending staff for 13 years and for an additional nine years while on staff at North Shore University Hospital in New York. Dr. Urmacher has received numerous awards and has published more than 80 articles as well as six book chapters and monographs that have included such topics as stage II breast cancer and myofibroblastoma of the breast. He also served on the editorial board of the American Journal of Surgical Pathology. As a former regional course director for the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, Dr. Urmacher presented regularly on breast pathology and in particular on angiosarcomas of the breast. In addition, he has attended numerous courses on breast pathology at both Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Harvard Medical School as well as those offered by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Dr. Urmacher is an active member in the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, the New York Pathological Society and numerous other professional societies.

Lidiya Lund, M.D., Ph.D.

Director of Breast Pathology
Dr.  Lidiya Lund is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology. She received her M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from Lviv State Medical University in Lviv, Ukraine. Subsequently, Dr. Lund completed her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the St. Luke's – Roosevelt Hospital Center, University Hospital of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons where she also served as Chief Resident. She then completed a fellowship in surgical pathology at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Lund served as Attending Pathologist and later as Associate Director of Scientific Research in the Department of Anatomic Pathology at the Lviv State Medical University. She was also an Attending Pathologist with Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York and a Pathology Consultant with the Continuum Hospitals in New York, New York. Prior to joining CBLPath, Dr. Lund served as Associate Attending Pathologist and most recently as Director of Anatomic Pathology at St. Luke's – Roosevelt Hospital Center. She has more than 25 years of experience in breast pathology. Dr. Lund has received several honors for her scientific accomplishments in her native Ukraine, authored numerous articles and lectured extensively in the United States and overseas. She is a Fellow of the College of American Pathologists and a member of the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, the European Society of Pathology and the New York Pathology Club.
